Chris: I miss The X-Files. I knew I would, but I didn't realize how *much* I would miss your writing, Vince and Frank's work, or the Wongs. I miss John Bartley shooting spooky shows in the melancholy light of Vancouver. I miss David Nutter's outstanding directing. I miss Art Graeme's work and Mark Snow's haunting scores. Most of all, I miss Scully's cool intellect and Mulder's sly humor. There have been many attempts to re-create the success of your show, but nothing on TV now comes close to the atmosphere, characters, and general feeling that, just around the corner of one's life, something truly bent was lurking, ready to intrude into our lives. On a personal note, you jump-started my writing career when it was nearly dead. The day after you called me to discuss my online reviews, I dropped out of graduate school and went back to writing full time. I've never looked back, never been happier. I've got a novel in the works and one under consideration in New York. You let me help write three Official Guides to The X-Files--I got paid for watching a show I loved! I met lots of wonderful people at Ten Thirteen, people I now miss. Thanks for opening that strange set of files to us ten years ago; I hope the drawer is not permanently closed. Sincerely, Sarah Stegall

I know it sounds extreme but the way I look at life has changed.I never missed an episode except 11-26-00 my birthday thanks to the election chaos and Katherine Harris. The series also brough tme closer to myolder sister as we watched every Fri or Sun faithfully. The eXpo was the time of our lives. The film my favorite. I also loved LG - HR - & Millenium. I spend mostof my time and $ still collecting X File memorabillia. The show maybe overbut never forgotten. Thanks for having the courage to make such a cutingedge show. We await film 2 , Ted Serios and future projects. So again Thank you thank you thank you. get back to work - WE MISS YOU Aimee

Hi Chris, Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed watching The X-Files. Not only did I like the writing and actors, but I was always listening to the names, to see who I recognized. Gee I wonder why Trust No 1 is my favorite! I hope to see another X-Files movie next year. Love, Eydie

Chris, Thank you for some of the best entertainment to come our way in years. I have never taken to a series the way I have with X-Files. I wish you the best of luck in whatever it is you are doing these days (I hope it is a new movie). Anyway, watching the X-Files is almost as exciting as being a Blue Angel . . .Almost! Dear Mr. Carter, Today is April 7. If I thought hard enough, I am sure I could come up with a reference from The X-Files for this date. That I would even attempt to do so only goes to show how heavily this show has influenced my life. Looking back, I cannot pinpoint what drew me to The X-Files. Was it the relationship? The case files? The dichotomy of beliefs within us all that were portrayed so perfectly in Mulder and Scully? I cannot say. What I can pinpoint, however, is what it has left behind. The X-Files challenged me and guided me; it provided a welcome haven from reality. For an hour each week, I could live in a different world. Through The X-Files, I met a wonderful group of people who have touched my life in ways I am only beginning to realize. For the joy I derived out of watching the magic on the screen, for the escape I found in reading what your creativity inspired, and for the comfort I gained from other X-Philes whom I met only because of your vision, I thank you. It's been an awesome ride. ~Jean

Dear Mr. Carter, I almost didn’t take advantage of this opportunity to say thank you, thinking that plenty of others had already said it, that you probably didn’t really care anyway, and that I couldn’t really appropriately express my gratitude. But I recognized these excuses as cop-outs and as I watched the timeline for this site tick down, I was increasingly compelled to add my humble thanks to those of the more eloquent fans who preceded me. I was late to the philedom, but once I discovered the show I was hooked. Superb production values, compelling stories, and captivating protagonists insured that I never missed an episode. I very carefully arranged my weekend schedule to insure that all of my responsibilities were fulfilled and that there were no interruptions from 9-10 on Sunday night. But it’s not enough to just thank you for a terrific and unparalleled television show. I also want to thank you for the many friendships I have formed as a direct outgrowth of what can only be described as my addiction to the universe you created. The show has ended, but the friendships continue and they are priceless. So thank you Mr. Carter. Thank you for the myth and thank you for the ship. With sincerest regards, Obfuscate451

Just finished watching the Cher episode. Incredible idea. B&W horror homage. I grew up on 'em. Sculler and Moldy - so my mate says - chasing the Jerry Springer side of America. "Peterson" as Frankenstein impeccable casting. Mother protecting her son. And a heroic monster united with his bride. All in so many minutes. This is art. You win, Chris, for making your vision a reality.

03.30.03 Dear Chris Carter:The X Files was the only TV program for which I set time aside since… I don’t know when.....a long, long time ago! The relationship that developed between Mulder and Scully was nicely underplayed. The artwork, SFX, and music were superb. I think you did a wonderful job as the “Show Runner,” bringing together many wonderfully talented people. I read on a fan site that you are now coming in daily to Fox. I hope you are working on another TV show. Hey, y’know what? If you are stuck for an idea for a TV show, why don’t you go to http://www.angelfire.com/az/leilafile then go to my X-Files parody site and click on: “Hey, Chris Carter…Here Are Ideas for New Shows!” Well, OK, these are more like ideas you should AVOID! :<7 Fans reading this are also invited to go there for illustrated parody about the X-Files, but don’t use any ideas you find there in your Writing 101 class…WHOA, BIG MISTAKE!!! :<7 So, CC-Thanks for the X-Files! Have fun, whatever you are doing! Best Wishes to all the other fans, Leila

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred moments so dear Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes How do you measure -- measure a year? It seems rather odd, posting my comments here now, almost a full year after the show has ended and the last thank you was posted. I think it took me this long to truly know and appreciate the gift you shared with us through your vision and writing. Just by reading the comments left by others on this page alone, I know there really isn't more for me to add. There is nothing left to be said at all really, I guess. But when I saw that the site was going to be closed, I suddenly felt compelled to add my remarks for all posterity. How cool is it I may get the last word in? Quite befitting of "toots, the domestic goddess"- don't you think? Thank you Chris, for sharing a glimpse of that beautiful mind with me, and the world. Thank you for the midnights and moments so dear, for the laughter and strife, for Mulder and Scully, and for the journey. I hope you read this someday and smile.

I can't believe I almost missed the opportunity to sign this! Thank you so very much for giving us XF. Words seem so inadequate to express what the show has meant to so many people. You gave us incredible characters that we came to love so passionately, and stories that captured our imagination. Add to that, all of the friendships that have been made through the fandom, and I can honestly say with many others that this show changed our lives. Thanks again.
