03/15/2002+ STATUS REPORT: Sites have been restructured - check old links, and let me know if any new ones fail. All sites operational. |
Site Relocation & Content Retirement: As my regular visitors will know, my websites were hacked a while back. I've finally tied up the loose ends associated with moving them to a safer home. Please note the following: ArchiveCentral, and therefore a lot of the fic I hosted for others (and the fic therefore linked from places like The Harem), is still not up. I would have to do considerable re-working of my scripts to accommodate advances in PHP, and I'm not sure I want to do that when those fics are generally available elsewhere by searching Gossamer or Google for the name and author, and when I have a lot going on in real life. At this stage I'll let the pages serve as reference points for titles but not make ArchiveCentral a priority, but we'll see what happens down the track. MediaCentral image galleries are another thing I've retired. For the most part, these contained DVD stills at a time when that technology was not common and the stills were hard to get. That is no longer the case. It isn't just a case of re-uploading, either - I would have to manually edit the malicious scripting from the hackers out of hundreds of index files. I did have some rarities among the collection, so if anyone wants those back, let me know. But again, generally speaking MediaCentral is not a priority.
Housekeeping: I have cleaned out many dead links around the sites, and more importantly, gotten the image and video galleries back up. These used to live at Webphilia, which went down unexpectedly, but I've relocated them now. So the sites that really suffered - the video page, Blondie's Ratcave, Mimi Magic and Leading Lady - should now be ship-shape again. Leading Lady: Exciting news about Leading Lady, the Laurie Holden site. We now have a collaborative relationship with Laurie and the site will cover news about her new movie, Silent Hill. I want to stress that this will still not be a daily update kind of deal, but I will endeavour to reflect response to her new projects as needed.
CHANGES & STATUS: eXegesis: Behind this page it is still possible to see the news history of the site. This will be preserved indefinitely, as it represents a significant portion of the fandom's heritage, much of which is being lost as sites drop offline. Please note, however, that a number of links that once went to reputable fan sites now lead to spam and even porn. This is due to the seizure of non-renewed domains by cyber-squatters. Please note that a small number of my galleries are being hotlinked excessively, and I may take them offline if the costs become a problem. Leading Lady: As previously stated, Leading Lady, the Laurie Holden site, will be actively maintained to a certain degree. The image galleries and videos have been fixed. Impart: My "respectable" art site, which has XF and other artworks that are not hampered by copyright issues, will remain up and may be expanded to represent my photographic work in the future. Thank You Chris Carter and Thank You Annabeth: These went down with the Thank You Annabeth domain (which was seized by squatters) but have been preserved at new addresses for posterity. Mimi Magic: Image galleries and videos fixed. This site is the most popular in the eXegesis family and will probably always exist, but I am uncertain whether it will be actively updated. I'm aiming to decrease my fannish responsibilities, not increase them. ArchiveCentral: This still exists and feeds other sites without problems, although I have not actively been adding content since 2004. There are a few broken story links from affiliated sites due to authors requesting story removal as they leave the fandom. However, this would only represent about 1% of the site content. I do implore writers not to request removal unless absolutely necessary, particularly if the work was done under an untraceable pseudonym as is often the case. Blondie's Ratcave: The Ratcave suffered enormously under the fall of the image and video archive, but they're back now. Enjoy your Skamper goodness to your heart's content. Not actively maintained, but will be preserved. The Harem, Green Iguana, Immortal Beloved and Allegiance: Not actively maintained, but all running smoothly. There may be a couple of broken links at Green Iguana due to story removal. Immortal Beloved image galleries fixed. Allegiance image gallery and video link fixed. All Annabeth: Not actively maintained, but running smoothly. Image galleries fixed. XFVCU, XINE and Fanlistings: These initiatives will remain available but static. Literatti and Total Impact: My XF fiction and collage art sites are still around and will be for the foreseeable future, but no further content is expected at this time. I may weed some of my less stellar work out of the fiction site in the future. Video By Deslea: This has been restored and will remain up for as long as possible. I have pruned down some of the older and less wonderful work. I still have a few music videos in my head but am unsure whether they will ever see fruition. NEWS HISTORY |
