William B Davis: Some Canadian fans have reported that the late Miss Davis' father has been interviewed on television, and it isn't Bill Davis. I'm still waiting on final confirmation from the newspaper that ran the story originally, but it does appear that an error was made and that Bill is not connected with the family of this courageous woman. Edit: The Province has confirmed that Miss Davis' father is musician Bruce Davis. Our thoughts remain with the Davis and Wright families.
William B Davis: We begin this update with sad news for much-loved XF villain William B Davis (CSM). Bill's daughter Rachel, 23, was shot to death on the weekend outside a Gastown nightclub while attempting to protect a stranger in a brawl. Her boyfriend was also injured. Our condolences to Bill, and to Rachel's mother, Vancouver actress Janet Wright. (Please note that some Canadian news reports have identified Bill as Bruce - Bruce is his middle name, and seems to be one used for him within his family). Edit: There is some confusion about the accuracy of this report. Bill's name has been omitted from later news reports; it is unclear whether this is because an error was made about his connection with Miss Davis or at the request of the family in the interests of privacy. I'm looking into it.
2003 Spooky Awards: The Spooky results are in! Many wonderful and talented writers got well-deserved recognition this time around, and kudos is due to the team, especially Alice. I've updated Literatti to reflect my own awards. Thanks, everyone!
New Music Video: I have a new music video, and it isn't XF! This one is based on the Terminator movies, from John Connor's point of view, and I think it's one of my better efforts. It's 9MB, zipped RealPlayer, and you can download it here.
Laurie Holden: A lovely gift arrived in the mail from Laurie Holden (Marita) yesterday. She autographed one of my artworks for me! It was the stylised vector drawing I did of one of her The Majestic publicity shots in 2002. You can see it here. I've also updated Leading Lady with heaps of bits and pieces from the archives.
Mimi Magic: Small update at the Mimi Rogers site about an upcoming appearance on ABC's Hope And Faith. Thanks to Alfornos.
The Map Room: A few new fic recs at the Map Room (including a rec for The Slender Line - thanks!). As always, this is the cream of the crop for stories that travel beyond Washington, DC.
Screen Savers: Between us, Megan of Road Runners and I were able to put together a complete set of the X Files screen savers for PC and MAC released by the now-defunct Official Site in 2002. Get them at Road Runners.

Wednesday, December 25, 2003 (CHRISTMAS UPDATE!)
|
Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate, and a happy holiday to those of you who celebrate other festivals (or none). If you're in the mood for Christmas cheer, I have goodies for you!
P2K Advent Calendar: This is still going full steam ahead! There's some wonderful artwork, and among them is my Christmas card to all of you. See that here.
Total Impact: I've updated my digital art site with new art and old, including some Christmas-themed artworks from years gone by. Enjoy!
The Harem: Small fiction update at the Harem, with a number of short Christmas-themed pieces arising from onlist challenges (don't miss A Man Apart by Kristen K2 and Blue Christmas In July by Kelly Keil). Discussions in the new community are going strong, as well, so you might like to check them out while you're there.
Literatti: I have another Christmas story in progress, which I'm hoping to get up tomorrow while it's still Christmas in most parts of the world, but failing that, I have a few Christmas pieces from past years, including Christmas Reunions: St Petersburg, Christmas Reunions: Sydney, and Searing Snow. There's also the Christmas-themed piece I wrote earlier this month, The Cold White Room.
Blondie's Ratcave: Small Christmas update at the Ratcave, with two more artworks, courtesy of Josie and xfilern. Thanks!
News Around The Web: Gertie has a gorgeous new layout at Duchovny.Net...Sandee has some new episode artworks at Fire And Ice...Memento has new episodic art as well...the DVD Screen Captures Archive is capturing Season 8 episodes now...the Haven Fiction After Hours folder has a number of Christmas challenge fics (mostly MSR)...the X Files Movie 2 campaign is up to US$275 in contributions...GAWS is selling some merchandise designed by Gillian Anderson and daughter Piper to benefit NF, Inc. Gillian's brother suffers from the condition.

Literatti: I've posted a new story, Tell Me A Story, another take on Krycek/Diana hurt/comfort in Season 6. There's pretty art, as well!
The Harem: There's been a complete overhaul at the Harem. We've shifted to LiveJournal for discussion, with some measures to help our non-LJ friends to make the transition. The list will still exist, but mostly for fanfic for archive purposes and for periodic updates about recent discussions. I've revamped the site to assist with this, and it's much more user-friendly now. If you have any internal links to the Harem, they'll need to be changed.
Leading Lady: I have some gorgeous pictures of Laurie, thanks to an anonymous friend, at a celebration of the words and music of Cold Mountain. She looks fantastic!
Movie (Non) News: Dark Horizons has an article about the prospects of a future film, and as expected, they're not good.
The Other Side: The Cryptkeeper has updated The Other Side with lots of new fanfic recommendations. As always, a lovely and varied update.
Philedom2k Advent Calendar: Don't forget, the P2K Advent Calendar is back again this year, with a collage every day to celebrate the season. (Gads, I'd better get working on mine!) They're all gorgeous, but I have a special fondness for Mak's no. 2 (6 Dec) and Tre's (16 Dec). See it here.
Resist Or Serve: According to IGN, the release date for the X Files Playstation 2 game Resist Or Serve has been pushed back yet again, this time to March 2004. This is quite worrying, as the release has been delayed several times. No news on why that is or whether the project might be in question.
X Files Movie 2 Campaign: The project to run an ad in The Hollywood Reporter with a view to convincing the execs to go ahead with the second movie is in motion. Their site can be found here. I do wish them luck, but please, if you donate, be realistic about the difference it will make. A $3,000 ad will probably not make a lot of difference in convincing the studios to part with a hundred million dollars to produce the film if they don't think it a viable project. So, donate if you wish, and I'll keep you updated, but be aware that it's a long shot.
Tribute2Leyla: The tribute to Leyla Harrison, the fanfic author who passed away a couple of years ago, has been down for a while, but thanks to Gertie, it's back again. See it here.

Literatti: I've posted a new story, The Cold White Room. Christmas in Season 6 is harsh and lonely for Krycek and Fowley. I've also noted my placings in the first round voting for the Spooky Awards (the final round has not yet been tallied).
Total Impact: My digital art site has been updated. There's one brand new artwork, a Krycek/Diana hurt/comfort piece based on the artwork for Cold White Room, and also some older collages from the archives.
Blondie's Ratcave: There's a Christmas update at the Ratcave, with some new and old Christmas Krycek/Marita wallpapers for your enjoyment. Thanks to Tarras, Linzee, and Azar!
Mimi Magic: A few news bytes at Mimi Magic, with thanks to Alfornos, as well as a few additions to the picture gallery, including my latest addition to my collection, a gorgeous and rare signed photo.
The Harem: The Harem wives have been busy writing, and we have lots of fabulous new stories on the archive. Thanks as always to Maidenjedi, whose challenges keep us thinking and writing and revelling in fic!
Leading Lady: Small update at my Laurie Holden site - just a few older publicity shots and oddments. I'm still going through all my hard drives finding everything I've been meaning to add. There's also a 1994 picture courtesy of McClean's magazine from her stint on Family Passions.
Scott Bairstow: We reported earlier this year that actor Scott Bairstow, who appeared in Miracle Man and also in Chris Carter's show Harsh Realm, was accused of raping a twelve-year-old girl from his wife's family over a long period. Bairstow has been allowed to enter an Alford plea to a second-degree assault charge associated with the case. An Alford plea is similar to the no-contest plea found in some places, in which the defendant acknowledges that s/he would probably be found guilty and concedes the case, without an admission of guilt. Bairstow faces 3-9 month prison when he is sentenced in January, and has surrendered to prison officials to begin serving his sentence now.
X Files 2 THR Campaign: The folks over at the Haven Spoilers folder are getting together a campaign to run an ad in The Hollywood Reporter to try to pursuade the powers-that-be to go ahead with the next X Files movie. A site is being created and PayPal donations will be accepted. I personally don't believe an ad will have any effect on the decision, but I wish them luck and will keep you posted about their progress.

Thursday, December 4, 2003 (MORE SITE ADMIN)
|
Admin: Just some more site admin today. I've changed eXegesis around for quicker load times and easier updating, with new PHP scripts and new link buttons on the left. Load times should be cut in half, which is great news! The main news page now has the filename index.php (not index.html) so if you have a hard link to index.html, you'll need to change it. Please let me know if any of the sites don't appear as they should. Webmasters, I've also written down exactly how each site has changed, for easier link checking. The details are here. Thanks for your patience.

Wednesday, December 3, 2003 (SECOND UPDATE)
|
Admin: I've had a burst of energy and finished the migration of the sites from Gertie's over to my own and Steph's servers. This means that any link to me that doesn't have "deslea.com" in it has probably changed. Specifically affected (besides Ratcave and Leading Lady) are Xine and Mimi Magic, as well as the Harem a while ago. The video and image links for many of my sites have changed recently as well. Please check and update any links as necessary. Gertie, I've said it before, but once again, thank you for your generosity all these years, and I wish you all the best. Steph, thank you for your support down the years, as well. Much love to you both.
Skippertales: There's a new Krycek/Scully archive in town, filling a long-standing need. The Skip has never been my own cup of tea, but it's great to have a place to go if it's yours. Check it out!

XFVCU: I've come to some decisions about the continuation of XFVCU. Don't worry, it will be continuing (I have three episodes in progress myself), but as I have estate issues to attend to, there will be a hiatus first. It hasn't been my wish to be uncommunicative about the series - until this week I simply didn't know how much I would have to do or have a firm idea of what my other commitments would be. There's more information at the site.
Blondie's Ratcave: Continuing with my move out of Fredfarm, I've transplanted the Ratcave over to a combination of deslea.com and Steph's Webphilia, fixed some links, and done some site tweaking. I've also added a link to a music video by Yvi and Kitsunegari from earlier this year as well. I'll be adding some Krycek/Marita Christmas-themed wallpaper next week. Note that this means all internal links to the Ratcave have changed.
Leading Lady: Small update at Leading Lady - just a couple of new pictures of Laurie at the Diversity Awards, courtesy of a friend.
Bright Shiny Objects: BSO, a multi-fandom rec site, has been updated, with some X Files fanfic reccommendations (including my own Don't Stop Swaying). Take a look!
Total Impact: Nothing new at Total Impact this week, but, stupidly, the last time I updated, I, er, forgot the artwork *shuffles shoes*. I've fixed them now. Sorry about that!
X Files Advent Calendar: Steph's Christmas fanart project is on again, with a new artwork every day til Christmas! Go look!
X Files Wallpapers: Thanks to cdenise, I've found a neat collection of XF wallpapers on a Russian site, mostly Mulder and Scully centric. See them here.
Kellie Waymire: Surekill's Kellie Waymire's death has been ruled to be of natural causes. I've seen several people reference the cause of death as an aneurism, but I haven't seen anything official. However, there seem to be no suspicious circumstances.
X Files Fan Club: The fan club has announced that they have acquired all remaining props from the show and will be auctioning them shortly. More details as they come to hand.
In The Name Of Posterity: More old news bytes from our hiatus earlier this year. Morgan & Wong are making two intrigue pilots, The Hobby and Den Of Thieves, for Showtime and NBC respectively, and will stay on if either are picked up. John Shiban wrote an episode of Threat Matrix, "Patriot Acts." The episode aired on ABC on October 16. James Pickens Jr (Kersh) is a regular on the new NBC drama The Lyon's Den, co-starring with Rob Lowe and Frances Fisher. Thanks to Alfornos for these three items. Lili Taylor (Mind's Eye) appears in John Sayles' new movie, Case de los Babys, screening now in some parts of the US. Thanks to Maidenjedi. More old news items next time!
